As expected, a late-winter blast has moved into the area just days before the start of spring.
Temperatures that reached the 70s on Sunday dropped into the mid-30s overnight and are expected to fall into the 20s during the day, with a low tonight around 15 degrees.
Several thunderstorm warnings were issued Sunday night as the weather system moved through the region.
A few downed trees and limbs and scattered power outages have been reported, but so far there are no reports of significant damage.
Wind advisories are ended this morning. However, scattered snow showers are expected to become more numerous late this morning into the afternoon before tapering off this evening.
Visibility may drop quickly during the heavier snow showers, and slick spots could develop on untreated roads and surfaces with temperatures near or below freezing.
If you are traveling today, be prepared for rapid changes in visibility and potentially slick roads.
Temperatures are expected to rebound into the 50s and 60s later this week. The first day of spring is Friday.
