The Vincennes University Board of Trustees has approved a plan to renovate campus housing to support students and workforce training partnerships with companies such as Amazon and Walmart.
The proposal focuses on redeveloping Godare Hall and updating Vanderburgh Hall. Under the plan, Godare Hall would be converted into a private-room facility designed for adult learners and employees participating in hands-on training programs through industry partners.
Vanderburgh Hall would be renovated and returned to the traditional student housing pool, with updates to common areas and overall living spaces.
University officials say the project is intended to better align housing with changing enrollment patterns and the growing demand for workforce training tied to employers.
The total cost is estimated at $35 million, with funding expected to come primarily through bond issuance.
The plan now heads to the State of Indiana for approval. If approved, construction on Godare Hall is expected to begin in late 2026, with both buildings scheduled to be ready for occupancy in 2028.
