Good Samaritan in Vincennes is rolling out a new system to improve how it communicates with patients.

The hospital says the platform will handle appointment reminders, billing notices, and other messages with a focus on reliability and efficiency.

Patients already receiving text alerts do not need to take action. Those who want to sign up can text START to 817647. Standard message and data rates may apply, and patients can opt out at any time by texting STOP.

Hospital officials say patients should make sure their mobile number is listed correctly in their medical record. That can be updated through MyChart or during an office visit.

Good Samaritan uses the Epic system in partnership with Deaconess Health System. Patients who opt in may see a confirmation message referencing Deaconess, but officials say that reflects shared technology only and does not change patient care.

As part of the update, automated reminder calls will come from a new phone number. Patients are encouraged to save that number so they recognize incoming calls.

Hospital leaders say the change is aimed at keeping patients informed and engaged in their care.
