Gov. Mike Braun and Indiana Secretary of Transportation and Infrastructure Matt Ubelhor joined local leaders Thursday in Monticello to officially present Community Crossings Matching Grant awards.
The grants, announced in March, total more than $200 million statewide and were awarded to 245 cities, towns, and counties to support local road and bridge projects.
Area counties receiving $1.5 million each include Knox, Daviess, and Sullivan. Pike County was awarded just under $1.5 million, and Martin County received over $1.1 million.
Individual city and town awards include over $82,000 for Oaktown, nearly $261,000 for Washington, nearly $25,000 for Merom, over $252,000 for Shelburn, $102,000 for Newberry, and over $271,000 for Shoals.
“Investment in local communities is critical to enhancing quality of life and public safety,” Gov. Braun said.
