A special prosecutor in Knox County has filed a criminal charge against Boonville Mayor Charles Wyatt for allegedly leaving the scene of a crash in May.
State police say Wyatt was at the Boonville VFW on May 14 when he backed a city-owned truck into another vehicle and left without notifying police.
The other driver, who was still inside, recorded the license plate and reported the incident.
Troopers found the damaged truck at Wyatt’s home but got no response at the door.
The Warrick County Prosecutor referred the case to Knox County, where a Class B misdemeanor charge was filed.
A state police news release says a court date had not been set as of this morning.
