3rd GOP Candidate Enters Sheriff Race

Mike Fisher has announced his candidacy for Knox County Sheriff.

Fisher, a lifelong Knox County resident, grew up in Oaktown and graduated from Lincoln High School in Vincennes. He has served more than 20 years with the Sheriff’s Department, rising from Reserve Deputy to his current position as Major.

In his campaign statement, Fisher emphasized his focus on consistent leadership and public service. He noted his experience under three different Sheriffs and said his goal is to maintain daily operations without political distraction.

“My priority remains on the day-to-day operations of the Sheriff’s Office,” Fisher said. “Out of respect for the current Sheriff and the work still ahead in his term, I’m committed to ensuring this campaign does not interfere with the responsibilities we carry out every day.”

Fisher added that he wants to strengthen community trust and uphold the tradition of service and integrity within the department.

Other GOP candidates for sheriff include Dan Short  and John Fuller who are also serve on the Knox County Sheriff’s Department.

Current Sheriff Doug Vantlin isn’t running again.
