Homecoming is one of Vincennes’ biggest traditions, centered on Lincoln High School. Each fall, the community comes together for a week of spirit days, a downtown parade, the homecoming court, and the big football game at Inman Field.
For generations, the event has been a highlight of the season, bringing students, alumni, and residents together in celebration of school pride and community spirit.
This year will be no different. Homecoming is this Friday. Organizers announced last week that parade vehicles can be placed on the route as early as 2 p.m. and the last call for lineup is at 3:30 with the parade starting at 3:45.
The game is at 7:30 followed by the alumni gatherings at the downtown Pavilion.
This year’s homecoming candidates are Lincoln students, Emma Abel, Hayden Cox, CoCo Salters, Hayden Limbach, Maddy Mitchell and Kiaya Farrar.
Knox County Central Dispatch is encouraging all to celebrate safely. They say that a local insurance agent is offering designated drivers to help with safety. The phone number is 270-293-4836.
There are several activities around the city coinciding with Homecoming Week.
