Today is Patriot Day, a national day of remembrance honoring the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. The observance pays tribute to the victims at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and aboard Flight 93, as well as the courage of first responders and the resilience of the American people.

Governor Mike Braun has ordered all American flags at state facilities to be flown at half-staff in honor of the day. He is also encouraging Hoosier residents and businesses to lower their flags as a sign of respect.

Patriot Day is recognized each year as a National Day of Service and Remembrance, urging citizens to reflect, volunteer, and honor the sacrifices made on September 11th.
