Non-life threatening injuries were reported in a train derailment early Wednesday morning in Gibson County. It happened near the Duke Energy Plant in Owensville.
According to Trains.com, a Norfolk Southern engineer and conductor were taken to the hospital after a locomotive and two railcars left the tracks about 3 a.m. today. Norfolk Southern says crews worked to clean up a diesel spill from the locomotive.
The company also thanked the public for avoiding the area while cleanup continues.
The derailment occurred on a spur that serves the coal-fired Duke Energy Gibson Plant, just off the railroad’s Southern-West District main line.
