Medicare’s annual Open Enrollment Period begins today, October 15, and continues through December 7.

This is the one time each year when anyone with Medicare can review or change their coverage. Beneficiaries can switch between Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage, change prescription drug plans, or enroll for the first time if they missed their initial window.

Officials remind Hoosiers to watch their mail this fall for notices about plan or premium changes. Plan comparisons can be made online at medicare.gov , and any updates take effect January 1, 2026.

Free, impartial help is available through Indiana’s State Health Insurance Assistance Program, or SHIP, which offers counseling statewide in person, by phone, or online.
