Halloween falls on Friday, but many local residents have been celebrating throughout the week.

The City of Vincennes has announced official trick-or-treat hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on both Thursday, October 30, and Friday, October 31.  In Bicknell, trick-or-treating will also take place on both days, with official hours set from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

Officials remind families to keep safety in mind during Halloween activities. Recommended precautions include making costumes visible with reflective tape or flashlights, choosing flame-resistant and properly fitted outfits, and opting for face paint instead of masks that limit vision.

Children should stay in groups with adult supervision, walk on sidewalks and well-lit streets, and cross only at corners after looking both ways. Adults are also encouraged to inspect all treats before they’re eaten — and only factory-wrapped candy should be consumed.
