The Indiana Department of Transportation says a speed limit change is coming to Pike County.

Starting around Tuesday, November 4, the speed limit on State Road 56 near Petersburg will increase from 45 to 50 miles per hour.

The change applies to the section of highway between the Pike County line and just west of Petersburg. INDOT says the adjustment follows a traffic study that showed a decrease in vehicle volume along that stretch.

Drivers are reminded to stay alert, slow down, and avoid distractions — especially when traveling through work zones.
