Authorities in the region are asking for information on a person considered missing. The Wabash County, Illinois Sheriff’s Department is reporting that 42-year-old Adam Shular has not been seen since late Thursday morning following a dispute at a home in Mt. Carmel.
Mt. Carmel Police responded to a residence in the 500 block of East 5th Street around 10:30 a.m. for a welfare check. Officers were told Shular left the home about an hour earlier in a white Dodge Caravan.
Using cell phone information, law enforcement tracked a possible location to rural Gibson County, near the Saunders Nature Preserve on County Road 800 West. The Gibson County Sheriff’s Office located the vehicle and Shular’s phone in that area.
Search teams, including Ohio Valley Search & Rescue, combed the surrounding woods. K-9 teams indicated Shular may have walked toward Indiana 64, and investigators say it is possible he was picked up by a passing driver.
Shular has not been found. He was last seen wearing a brown Carhartt-style coat. He is described as a white male, approximately 6’1”, 300 pounds, bald with a brown beard.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact Mt. Carmel Police at 618-262-4114.
