Greene County General Hospital will discontinue obstetrics services on January 31, 2026. Hospital leaders made the announcement Wednesday evening in a news release saying the decision follows ongoing staffing challenges, reimbursement issues, and a drop in deliveries that make it difficult to operate a 24-hour OB program.
Beginning in February, deliveries will shift to neighboring hospitals, but prenatal, postpartum, and women’s health care will continue at My Linton Clinic. Nurse Midwife Kim Riggins and Dr. Cam Gabrielsen will remain available locally, and the hospital’s Perinatal Navigator Team will keep helping families choose where they want to deliver.
Nearby delivery options listed in the announcement include Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes.
CEO Brenda Reetz says the change is part of a plan to protect core services and is not a sign that the hospital in Linton is at risk of closing. OB patients will be contacted directly with more information.
