A longtime business on Main Street in Petersburg is preparing to close its doors.

Marge’s Hallmark, located at 716 East Main Street, has been part of the community for more than three decades. The store opened in 1992 and has operated in the same location for 33 years.

Owner Marge Leavitt announced the closure on social media, saying she is retiring. The Pike County Chamber of Commerce and others in the community have shared the announcement online.

The store’s going-out-of-business sale is scheduled for this Friday and Saturday.

The closing marks the end of a long run for a familiar downtown storefront.
