A wreath pickup day is scheduled for Friday at the Willow Street cemeteries.

The Wreaths Across America local Wreaths for Knox County committee says volunteers are needed Friday beginning at 9 a.m. to collect wreaths that were placed in December on National Distribution Day.

Organizers estimate about 2.500 wreaths will be gathered. They will be moved to paved roadways inside the cemetery so Vincennes City Water Department trucks can load them for disposal.

Volunteers are asked to report to the Willow Street cemetery grounds tomorrow morning. Again the collection of the wreaths starts at 9 a.m.

The Wreaths for Knox County program is a joint effort of the Vincennes Kiwanis and Rotary clubs.

Each year volunteers raise funds and work to place wreathes on the graves of military veterans across Knox County.
