Two water rescues were reported in Daviess County in less than twenty-four hours.

The first happened Sunday morning near Elnora. Emergency crews were dispatched shortly after 10 a.m. to the intersection of 1550 North and 300 East for a motorist in distress.

Dispatchers reported a vehicle partially in water with water beginning to enter the car.

Deputies, firefighters, and EMS crews responded to the scene. Rescuers used a boat to reach the driver and remove them from the vehicle.

The individual was taken from the scene for evaluation.

Authorities contacted the Daviess County Highway Department to place road closed signs in the area.

The second incident happened Monday morning on State Road 358, where a vehicle was swept off the roadway by floodwaters. Crews reached the occupant and brought them to shore, where they were evaluated by EMS.

Officials remind drivers not to attempt to travel through flooded roadways.
