Flags across Indiana will be lowered this weekend to honor a fallen service member.

Governor Mike Braun has directed flags at all state facilities to be flown at half-staff on Saturday, April 4, in honor of Captain Seth Koval.

Captain Koval was killed in action overseas on March 12 while supporting Operation Epic Fury.

He served as a machinist with the 122nd Fighter Wing of the Indiana Air National Guard. After graduating from Purdue University, he later transferred to the Ohio Air National Guard, where he served as a combat pilot and instructor.

The statewide order calls for flags to be lowered from sunrise to sunset on Saturday as his family honors his life.

The governor is also encouraging residents and businesses to lower their flags to half-staff during that time.
