Mayor Thomas Estabrook says a recent visit to Bicknell highlighted the city’s early history and its founding family.
Estabrook says a woman with ties to the community traveled from out of state to learn more about Bicknell’s beginnings and stopped into city hall on Friday.
He says he met Suzanne Frilot at City Hall after she arrived seeking historical information. Frilot is a descendant of John Bicknell, who founded the city.
According to Estabrook, Frilot’s family connection includes her mother, who was originally from Bicknell before moving away.
During the visit, they discussed the early development of the city, including the original layout, early land sales, and the nickname “Stumptown.”
They also reviewed historical records and newspapers tied to the community’s early years.
Estabrook says he hopes the visit encourages continued interest in Bicknell’s history and its founding families.
