The Vincennes Community School Corporation and members of the Washington Community Schools are among those recognized statewide for school board leadership and training.
The Indiana School Boards Association has announced the recipients of its 2025 Exemplary Governance Awards, honoring more than 300 board members and over 100 school boards for their work during the previous year.
In total, 314 individual board members and 120 school boards received recognition through the program.
The awards are divided into four levels, ranging from “Commendable” to “Exemplary.” Board members qualify by completing professional development credits through seminars and workshops focused on governance and student outcomes.
Locally, the Vincennes Community School Board and the Northeast Dubois School Board received Commendable honors.
Individual Commendable awards were also presented to Lynne Rowe of East Gibson, along with Tim Hedrick and Rob McCormick of Washington.
Other area districts recognized at various levels include Barr-Reeve, East Gibson, and Shoals.
The awards are being presented during the association’s spring regional meetings.
