Two top officials with the Indiana Election Division are stepping down following the primary election.

Republican Co-Director Brad King and Co-General Counsel Valerie Warycha have both submitted resignations effective May 6, The Indiana Capital Chronicle reports King is retiring after more than two decades in the role. In his resignation letter to Governor Mike Braun, he cited his years of service and said he is planning for the future. During his tenure, King helped develop Indiana’s voter ID law and worked on statewide election systems and online resources for voters.

Warycha is also leaving her position. Her departure comes as she supports Republican Secretary of State candidate David Shelton of Knox County.

In a separate letter co-written with former Secretary of State Connie Lawson, Warycha raised concerns about operations under current Secretary of State Diego Morales, including issues with candidate filings and agency spending.

The governor, working with state Republican leaders, will select a replacement for King.

According to a report from the Indiana Capital Chronicle, King will not take part in any recount proceedings following the primary.
