The Veterans of Foreign Wars recognized two local law enforcement officers during its annual Public Servant Awards.

In Knox County, Knox County Sheriff’s Office Captain Abram Luce was selected as Public Servant of the Year by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1157.

In Vincennes, Vincennes Police Department Officer Carter Creedon, Badge 242, received the same recognition on Saturday, April 25. The department said the award was presented by Post Commander Tedd Cooper.

The department said Creedon was nominated on its behalf. It also said the recognition cites his work related to DUI enforcement and roadway safety.

According to the VFW, the Public Servant Awards recognize emergency medical personnel, law enforcement officers, and firefighters. The organization says nominees are evaluated on recognition from colleagues or the public, performance of duties, and long-term dedication with continued growth in responsibilities and skills.

Submissions for the awards are due before January 1 each year, with recipients recognized in the spring.
