A stolen vehicle from Knox County was recovered during an investigation in Gibson County.
On Thursday, February 27th, an Oakland City man was arrested after being linked to the theft of railroad line in Gibson County. At approximately 12:40 p.m., Gibson County Central Dispatch received a report of approximately 80 feet of railroad line missing near the corner of County Road 600 South and 1100 East, near Somerville.
Deputy Michael Owens responded to the scene and observed evidence connecting the theft to a nearby residence about a mile and a half away. Upon further investigation, 38-year-old Jeremy Norrington of Oakland City arrived at the property and was questioned. The stolen railroad line, valued at $4,000 per 40-foot section, was found severely damaged and returned to its rightful owner.
During the investigation, a stolen vehicle from Knox County was also recovered. Norrington was arrested and transported to the Gibson County Jail, where he faces charges of Theft. He was also cited for False and Fictitious Registration and Driving While Suspended.
The investigation remains ongoing.
