Indiana State Police say a traffic stop in Daviess County Saturday night led to a felony drunk-driving arrest.
Troopers stopped a speeding vehicle on U.S. 50 near Montgomery and made contact with the driver, 26-year-old William Stewart of Loogootee. Police say the trooper noticed signs of impairment and possible criminal activity.
A Washington City K-9 unit assisted at the scene, and the dog alerted to the vehicle. A search turned up suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Stewart was taken to the hospital for a chemical test, then booked into the Daviess County Jail. Because he has a prior OVWI conviction within the last seven years, police say the operating-while-intoxicated charge is a Level 6 felony.
