The Good Samaritan Trauma Team hosted its annual Baby Safety Shower last week, an event focused on connecting expectant mothers with community resources and education to support them through pregnancy and the baby’s first year.
The program brings together agencies from across the region, including public safety personnel, health organizations, and local support services. Each vendor provides information, demonstrations, and materials aimed at improving safety and reducing infant mortality.
This year’s event drew about 30 invited mothers, and organizers say they are considering expanding attendance in the future as interest continues to grow.
Sidney Hull, Trauma Registrar at Good Samaritan, said the program offers families important instruction they may not find elsewhere. “This is a program that trauma services started in 2017 and is to help moms in their second and third trimester.” She went on to say it’s a way to give them education for the first year of the baby’s life. ” Like sleep, infant CPR, safe sleep, car seat installation and then at the end, they do get a car seat and other gifts. “
Good Samaritan partners with its internal programs and local agencies to distribute invitations and ensure that families who can benefit most from the event receive access to the support offered.
