Knox County Clerk David Shelton has become the first Republican candidate to run for the Indiana Secretary of State’s office.

The announcement was made in a press release this morning sent out to several state news outlets.

As of this posting, current Republican Secretary of State Diego Morales had not yet filed to run.

The Republican candidate to move on to the general election in November will be chosen at the state Republican state convention to be held on June 20th in Indianapolis.

In addition to serving as Knox County Clerk, Shelton is the Knox County Republican Party Chairperson.
