A $40,000 scholarship is available for students interested in teaching.

The Next Generation Hoosier Education Scholarship was created by the Indiana General Assembly.

It’s a renewable award up to $10,000 for a maximum of 4 academic years totaling $40,000.

Lawmakers allocated $24 million in the new state budget increasing the scholarship $3500 from previous years.

Qualified students must have graduated high school in the top 20 percent of their class or earned a score of 1190 on their SAT or 26 on the ACT.

Students must also commit to teaching in Indiana for at least five years after college graduation.
