A Gibson County resident is in jail after a police chase.

An Indiana State Trooper stopped 19-year-old Fernando Ramirez of Owensville for speeding on US 41 near County Road 350-East in Gibson County on Thursday night.

When the trooper approached the vehicle, Ramirez sped away northbound on 41 then turned onto 350-East.

Police gave chase until Ramirez crashed his 2011 Dodge and fled on foot.

He was found a short distance away and arrested for Resisting Law Enforcement, Driving While Intoxicated and Possession of Marijuana and Paraphernalia.

There were no injuries.
