Wind gusts to around 35-40 mph will combine with low humidity to increase fire danger over the region this afternoon.

The National Weather Services says rain over the last week will help to limit the overall threat, but with the strength of the winds any fires could quickly get out of control.

You are advised to avoid open burning if possible today and be sure to properly dispose of flammable items.
