Recently, teams from two projects were on the Vincennes University campus making test runs of the equipment they will be using on April 8th.

There will be two research projects happening during the total solar eclipse.

One is the Dynamics Eclipse Broadcast Initiative, also known as DEB and the other is NASA Solar Steam.

Dean of the College of Science, Engineering and Math at Vincennes University, Curt Coffman, says both are out of Southern Illinois University.

The scientists were making sure that telescopes were working and being positioned correctly and that the data gathered could be streamed properly.

Coffman says the focus of the research is to study the sun’s corona and gain more insight into how the sun works.

The teams will be back at V-U on Thursday, April 4th and will be continuing to make test runs right up until Monday at 3-pm when the eclipse takes place.
