Weather was definitely a factor for the eclipse crowds in Vincennes.

As people gathered at the George Rogers Clark Memorial and staked out their spot for viewing, many said they were there because of picture perfect sunshine.

A few hours later they were blessed to see totality in all of it’s glorious splendor.

Travelers came from Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota and California to Knox County specifically to experience the once in a lifetime event.

When totality happened, everyone surrounding the Memorial erupted with joy….

Carter Brooks is from San Francisco,  he had planned to watch the eclipse in Texas, then found out the weather would be better in Indiana…..

Casey is from Jeffersonville, Indiana and was almost speechless after totality….

This visitor from Illinois and her companion from Michigan were more than glad they chose Indiana’s First City for their eclipse experience.

Eclipse gazers hung around for about a half an hour after totality and as the sun began to shine fully again they began to disperse.

They leave with memories of kids playing, adults pitching washers, people looking at their strange shadows as totality drew nearer and a memory of Vincennes they will treasure for the rest of their lives.
