A new program in Vincennes is designed to save lives at public pools.

LIfeVEst was formed by Maria Morrison of Vincennes who was inspired to start the effort to honor a little girl who was the victim of a drowning accident…

Morrison says the program was made possible by grants from the Knox County Community Foundation through their Community Good Grant Program.

Knox County CASA also granted funds to get the program rolling.

Morrison also gives credit to Vincennes Parks Department Superintendent J.R. Fields in assisting in the effort.

A public dedication ceremony for LIfeVEst is Saturday at 2 at Rainbow Beach in Vincennes.
