Gemtron workers continued their strike this morning.

The local union of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades set up a picket line on Wednesday outside the plant that produces glass products.

Business Manager for District Council 91 for the I-U-P-A-T, Ryan Schwiezer, told First City News that the action was the result of talks breaking down between federal mediators.

At issue are changes in how the company contributes to pension funds.

Schweizer says the company has not negotiated in good faith and union members will continue the unfair labor practice strike however they do want to work toward a reasonable contract.

Gemtron made a statement to other media saying they respect the employees right to strike and remain committed to bargaining in good faith toward a contract.
