A South Knox student has been named a recipient of the Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship.

Claire Swing was recognized as one of nearly 300 students across Indiana to receive the award for the 2025-2026 academic year, according to State Representative Matt Hostettler.

The scholarship, created by the Indiana General Assembly in 2016, provides up to $10,000 per year — or up to $40,000 total — to high-achieving students who commit to teaching in Indiana schools for at least five years.

This year, a record 1,091 students applied for the scholarship.

Hostettler said the program supports future teachers by allowing them to focus on their studies and prepare to make a positive impact in classrooms.

Students who qualify for the scholarship must finish in the top 20 percent of their high school class, score in the top 20th percentile on the SAT or ACT, or have at least a 3.0 GPA.
