The Labor Day Association’s 139th annual celebration is happening this Labor Day Weekend at the Warrick County Fairgrounds in Boonville.
The four-day event Friday through Monday includes a full schedule of family activities, live entertainment, and union-led traditions. Free carnival rides and free parking are available each day, with highlights including pageants, baby and pet contests, a rummage sale, kids’ games, and multiple food and vendor booths.
Union leaders say the celebration continues to honor the contributions of working men and women. This year’s them is Unions We Are Stronger than Ever.
Key attractions this year include the Garden Tractor Pull on Friday evening, the Scrapper Race and fireworks on Saturday, a demolition derby and gospel sing on Sunday, and the Labor Day Parade Monday morning in downtown Boonville. Admission fees apply for certain events such as tractor pulls, scrapper races, and the demolition derby, while all carnival rides and shuttle services remain free.
The Labor Day Association, made up of local unions across the region, has organized the celebration since the late 19th century. It remains one of the longest-running Labor Day traditions in the country.
