An Oaktown man received a 45 year sentence on Monday.

A jury found 34 year old James Birge guilty last month following a 3 day trial in Knox Circuit Court

He was convicted in connection with a Valentine’s Day incident in 2021 on South 10th in Vincennes in which another person was shot and hospitalized.

After the crime,  Birge had fled to Madisonville, Kentucky but was located and arrested a few days later.

Knox Circuit Judge Monica Gilmore sentenced Birge to 35 years in state prison, 5 years in work release and 5 years probation.
