The first phase of the Washington Avenue project is almost complete.

That was the word from Vincennes City Engineer John Sprague at Monday’s Board of Public Works and Safety Meeting.

He told the board that sidewalk work continues and street lights should be working soon along Washington Avenue from Niblack to Belle Crossing.

The next phase runs from Gregg Park to Emison Avenue and will begin after January 1st.

The total street renovation project is still slated to be finished by the end of next year.
