Discussions continue on a possible Knox County purchase of the Old National Bank Building.

The matter was brought up at a joint meeting of the Knox County Commissioners and Knox County Council last week.

It was explained that the building could be used as part of the county’s space needs assessment plan.

The county is looking at moving and rearranging county office locations.

The council passed a resolution for the commissioners to move forward on pursuing the idea of  buying the vacant property at 3rd and Busseron Streets which is now owned by Thursday Church.

Engineering firm RQAW has examined the building and county officials are awaiting their report.

County Commissioner Trent Hinkle told First City News that they are seeking out appraisers but no action has been taken on the matter.
