A man convicted of murdering his mother in Gibson County was sentenced today.

Earlier this month, David Crowe-Junior pleaded guilty but mentally ill to stabbing Viola Clardy to death in 2021.

He hid the body in the woods after wrapping it up and she wasn’t found until law enforcement conducted a welfare check on her whereabouts.

The guilty plea came at the start of his 2nd trial.   The first trial was declared a mistrial

At his court appearance in Gibson Circuit Court today he received a forty five year sentence.

He will undergo psychiatric treatment while incarnated.

He can request a modification of sentence in twenty three years.
