A corn spill on US 50 in Knox County caused a crash and delays Thursday.
Knox County Chief Deputy John Fuller released details today saying that at 5:04 PM, a dump truck owned by ICE Farms, traveling west near Bottoms Road, struck a bump in the road, causing its trailer to spill wet corn gluten meal across the roadway.
Two motorists following the truck were unable to stop in time. A 2007 Ford Escape rear-ended a 2015 Mazda CX5, damaging both vehicles. INDOT was called but they reported a two hour window before they could arrive to assist in clean up.
Deputies arrived shortly after the crash. INDOT was called but reported a two-hour delay before they could assist with cleanup. However, ICE Farms and local fire departments, including Steen and Harrison Townships, worked to clear the roadway. By 6:09 PM, the road was reopened, and traffic resumed.
