The Vincennes City Council has approved $100,000 in grant funds to the Indiana Military Museum.

At Monday’s meeting, museum founder Jim Osborn explained that he’s seeking a $250,000 Indiana Destination Development Grant.

It’s a matching grant requiring a match of the full amount.

Osborn said he had $150,000 on hand and a pledge of $25,000 making him $75,000 short and he requested the council get close to that.

However the council opted to give $100,000 out of their budgeted grant match fund.

Now all the funds are secured to meet the January 26th deadline of raising the money.

Osborn says the the money will be used for expanding the popular tourist destination in Vincennes.

The plan is to add 4500 feet for more exhibits as well as a 40 seat theater.
