As weather experts warn us of extreme cold temps, a Vincennes church is opening it’s doors for those who might need shelter.

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on Broadway has been designated as a warming center and will open it’s doors on Noon Saturday and remain open through Wednesday morning.

That’s when the temperatures are expected to be at their worst with lows just above zero and highs only in the teens.

The Mayor’s Office along with Knox County Emergency Management and the United Way made the announcement on the warming center Thursday adding that a fund has been established to pay for food, hygiene products and other necessities needed at the station.

Donations are being accepted at the Vigo Street Fire Department Headquarters.

Volunteers are also needed to maintain the facility throughout the time period.
