black-history-month

February is Black History month, and today we continue our series on the Knox County Black History Preservation Project.

It’s an effort to collect and digitize photos and documents of local history involving people of color with an ultimate goal of putting the material online for public access and creating a permanent exhibit in Vincennes.

Kenneth W. Morris/Knox County Black History Preservation Project Board Member

Project leaders and group members are focusing not only on the distant past but also on more modern day history and people, like Kenneth W. Morris.

Morris did win that precinct committeeman seat and served for about 8 years.

That history happened less than 30 years ago.

Find out more about Black History Month and the local preservation project on this week’s episode of First City Focus.
