Local Republican candidates in the May Primary will gather downtown on Monday evening.

The Knox County Republican Party is hosting a Meet and Greet event at Old Chicago at the corner of Main and 6th in Vincennes starting at 6pm.

Knox County Republican Party Chair David Shelton says it’s an opportunity to meet with candidates running for various local offices in the May 7th Primary.

There are several contested races on the Republican ballot.

Those do include a three person race for County Commissioner in District 1 and a two person race in District 2.

Seven candidates are running for County Council At-Large and two people are running for County Coroner.

GOP candidates and office holders running for district and state office have also been invited.

The only local contests in the spring election are on the GOP side.

No Democratic candidates filed to run in this election cycle.
